Having a HP Wireless Elite Keyboard can bring in several advantages as it is modern and the user need not sit right in front of the monitor to do all the necessary typing work. Since it is an improvement over the standard wired keyboard, it should also have several other attractive features apart from just being wireless.

The Elite keyboard from HP does is job well and as advertised. It is definitely a recommended upgrade for those who are still stuck with wired keyboards as it is a comfortable and advantageous little unit that changes the entire look of the computer.

The design of the keyboard is sleek and modern making it very attractive and pleasing to the eye. The keys are silent than most other keyboards and students can particularly benefit from this feature if they have someone else sharing the dorm/hostel room with them. The setup of the keyboard is very easy and does not need any skill. The keyboard runs on battery which is expected to have a life of around twelve months as advertised.

There is an installation CD that comes with the keyboard and it also installs a battery life indicator apart from the necessary drivers. This way the user can be sure of how much battery life is still left. The keyboard on the whole is very simple to use and is similar to any plug and play device as far as the ease of use is concerned.

The keyboard has no lag which is usually seen in standard units and the construction quality is also far above expected. There is no light on the device which indicates that the caps lock button is on. But there is a pop up that immediately appears at the bottom of the screen which serves the purpose.

The keyboard occupies the minimum space on the desk making it convenient for users who have smaller desks and other devices like graphic tablets in the same area. The feeling of using the device is similar to using the keys on a laptop/notebook as the keys need just the right amount of push to be activated unlike those on standard keyboards that have to be hit really hard.

The caps lock indicator pop up is seen only on HP units and is not the same on other devices as there might be an issue of compatibility. The user then has to install a free program called the “NumCapsScroll Indicator” on his computer to get it working on any device.

There is a blue light on the USB of the keyboard that flashes every time a key is hit on the keyboard that makes it very annoying to the user. So it has to be covered with a tape or something else to stop distracting the user. Not all the non-alphabetical keys of the keyboard are placed in their standard positions and this makes it difficult for those who need to type fast until the user gets used to the layout.

The HP Wireless Elite Keyboard is definitely a must buy for those looking to upgrade from a wired keyboard as it is an efficient little unit.
