What You Must Know About Car GPS Navigation Systems

Car GPS navigation systems are probably one of the hottest electronic gadgets to come to market in the past few years! It’s no wonder why! These compact devices can do everything from tell you how to drive cross-country to let you know how to detour a traffic jam on the freeway.

Prices have dropped considerably in the past 18 months. Now, you can get a basic GPS system for around $150! If you want a more fully featured model, you can get that for $250 to $350, according to the model and the exact features.

That’s not a bad price for never having to be lost again!

The problem with buying a car GPS navigation system is there are so many manufacturers, and so many models to choose from. Unless you’re a GPS aficionado like me, you’re might be put off by all of the new technologies these things bring together and all of the buzz words you need to know to even understand what you’re buying.

Not to worry!

This little article is going to straighten you out!

Although there are tons of manufacturers of these things, there are only three major players, Garmin, Tom Tom, and Magellan. Gamin sells 70% of the car GPS systems sold; Tom Tom has a really great product at great prices; and Magellan is one of the main pioneers of the whole industry.

All three companies make excellent products at very competitive prices. You can certainly buy a GPS system from anyone you choose. I just like to stay with the big companies. It’s a personal decision. I want to make sure my device will be supported in the future.

To make things really much simpler, it’s good to know that all GPS navigation systems do essentially the same things. As a matter of fact, they all do the following:

* Tell you where you are
* Tell you how to get to where you want to go with spoken directions
* Let you enter information and make choices via a touch screen interface
* Have a large database of destinations already programmed into the device (called Points of Interest, or POI’s)
* Come pre-loaded with maps (older models you have to download the maps)
* auto-calculate the shortest or fastest route

You can get all of this for around $150. The Garmin nuvi 200, the Tom Tom One, or the Magellan Maestro 3100 can do all of this and more for about that price.

You would be pleasantly surprised, however, at how much more you can get for another $100 to $200!

That will buy you a car GPS navigation system that:

* Comes with maps of Canada, Europe, and/or Mexico
* Let’s you use it in conjunction with your cell phone using Bluetooth technology
* Tells you traffic and weather in real time
* Plays music, and serves as an audio book reader
* And, let’s you hear everything through your car’s own stereo system

That’s a lot of features for the money!

We’re not done, however! There’s plenty more these nifty devices can do.

As you go up in price you get things like bigger screens and multiple routing capability. At higher price points each manufacturer starts to really distinguish themselves with proprietary features–like Tom Tom’s POI database where users can actually make changes to reflect current road conditions. (Tom Tom makes those changes available for everyone to see!)

What you need to do next is to start browsing around an informative website where you can read about specific models and check their prices.

Apple Ipod Touch 32Gb What Do You Know About It

Apple iPod touch 32GB – Great Not Only For Music But Also Organization

I love my Apple iPod touch 32GB, because not only does it have great features for listening to music, like the Genius playlist feature, but it also has all the tools for keeping life organized. It syncs with my Google mail and calendar and I’m sure even more than I know about. Plus almost all of the great organizational apps work great on Apple iPod touch 32GB as well as the iPhone.

I would like to point out what is in the box you will receive, as packaged by Amazon. I got the iPod, the USB cable, a quick-start guide, an Apple sticker, a docking adaptor, and earbud headphones. There was not a stand to hold the iPod upright for watching videos, which is ok but somewhere I read that somebody got one of those.

——————————————————————————-

Apple iPod touch 32GB – Just What I Expected!

I’ve had an iPod since they first came out and over the years have bought an iPod 15GB, iPod 30GB, iPod Nano (2nd Gen), and and iPod Nano (3rd Gen). When the new generation of Nanos came out I had originally planned on buying one because of the features like the radio & camera but ultimately decided to go with the Apple iPod touch 32GB because of the ability to purchase and play Apps (i’m a puzzle nut!). I’ve always purchased my Apple iPod touch 32GB.

Directly from the Apple store and was a little afraid to purchase from Amazon but I’m so glad I did. I couldn’t pass up the price (184.99, no tax, and free shipping?! yes!) and my package arrived quickly and in perfect condition. To someone who’s never owned an iPod or a Mac the setup can be a little confusing but it’s pretty easy to figure it out. It’s been a month and I still haven’t had any issues with it. Love it!

——————————————————————————-

Apple iPod touch 32GB – My First MP3 Player

I bought this Apple iPod touch 32GB through Amazon, and it was delivered quickly and packaged excellently. I was thrilled when I saw that the purchase price was even lower than the Apple Store. In addition, I applied for the Amazon Visa to get an additional $40 off my first purchase. Apple iPod touch 32GB is my first MP3 player and I am enjoying it tremendously. I am still learning about different apps and how to download on iTunes.

Although iTunes has a tutorial, I don’t necessarily find it easy to use. However what I like about the iPod is that it keeps me organized because, by nature, I am very unorganized. It has a calendar, a place for friend’s information like birthdays, phone numbers, and e-mail. It has a calculator function, a clock. I can download a Bible, for heaven’s sake (LOL). I can carry it in my purse when I go to church.

It has a level app for handy husbands and I believe I can download a pedometer app. There are too many things to mention. I told my husband we could sell some of our stuff at a garage sale because there are so many handy things we can do with this. I love it!

What To Know About Garmin Gps Text To Speech

Garmin GPS text to speech has to be a phrase that you’ve heard or read if you’re in the market for an automotive GPS device. But what exactly does “text to speech” mean? Do you need it? And how much is it going to set you back? To answer these questions, let’s look at the current state of the 2010 GPS marketplace. But first, let’s define “text to speech”.

Text to Speech

Text to speech means this. The GPS device tells you the street names of the streets you need to turn on. You see, used to be, GPS devices only said, “Turn here”, or something to that effect. As these devices got more sophisticated, and as their memories grew, manufacturers started including the capability of naming the street you’re to turn on. So, instead of saying, “Take a right,” you’re Garmin GPS text to speech device would say, “Take a right on Elm Street.”

I’m sure you can see how incredibly useful that would be if you’re in unfamiliar territory. And, if you’re not, why would you need a GPS in the first place?

Garmin GPS Text to Speech

So, text to speech is something you want, right? Sure! A couple of years ago, however, this capability would have cost extra. However, due to intense competition between Garmin, Tom Tom, and Magellan, among others, the features you get with GPS devices have increases dramatically.

Now, it’s hard to get a GPS without text to speech. As a matter of fact, at the time of the writing of this article, early 2010, Amazon only sells two GPS devices that don’t have Garmin GPS text to speech. (Counting only Garmin devices, of course.)

How Much?

So, with all of that said, you’re really not going to have to spend a bundle to get this really convenient capability. As a matter of fact, now plenty of other great features such as Bluetooth, multi-routing, and real time traffic are within reach of anyone who want to purchase a GPS.

Now that you know Garmin GPS text to speech is within reach of everyone, find out what other great features you can afford. Just click on my website, below!

What You Need to Know About Car GPS Units

If you’ve been comparing car GPS units, you may have already noticed just how complicated it can be to find one that’s right for you, no matter how tech-savvy you might be. Hopefully, after reading this article, you’ll be a bit more well informed about what you need to know to find the perfect unit for you and your budget.

If you haven’t already been shopping around, you may not know that all car GPS units essentially do the same thing: they show you where you are and tell you how to get to where you’re going. They also all come with a variety of pre-programmed destinations, called POIs (or, Points of Interest) to make getting where you need to be even easier. All you need is a finger, because all car GPS units utilize touch screen technology.

What makes finding the perfect one for you so complicated is all the extra features manufacturers are including in their products to meet market competition. Before you get too overwhelmed, let’s talk about these manufacturers and compare the products they’re making.

Although several companies produce car GPS units, I’d suggest sticking with the top three: Magellan, Garmin, and Tom Tom. Sure, there are other companies, like Lowrance, Mio, and Pharos. But all these other companies are competing for only 10% of the U.S. market. It may be a personal thing, but I’ve always liked to go with industry winners. Certainly other companies are making quality products, but I like to know that my purchase will be supported year to year.

Magellan was one of the original companies to start manufacturing GPS devices. With a great company name and a wide selection of products, Magellan is a good choice. I really like their Maestro series, which ranges in price from $150 to $350. You can get a Maestro 3100 for less than $150. That’s not their best buy, though. If you just want an entry level GPS, then Garmin’s nuvi 200 is probably a better bet. Magellan’s best buy is their Maestro 4250, which can do everything Garmin’s competing product can, but for $50 less.

Magellan also has a great deal for AAA members that makes the AAA Tour Book available right inside the device. Of course, you must be a member, but if you’re a frequent traveler, it’s an excellent deal.

With almost 50% of the total market, Garmin is the industry leader. A basic Garmin, the nuvi 200, costs only $150. However, if you’re looking to spend a lot more, you can purchase the 880 model, which includes a lot of extra features, for around $1,000. There are no real competitors at the high end of the market place, that is for automotive GPS systems.

Catching up to Garmin is Tom Tom, a company that offers a great selection of products at very competitive prices. For example, what you’d pay for Garmin’s basic nuvi 200 could also get you Tom Tom’s One 3rd Edition, which has a lot of extra cool features. Tom Tom’s GO series has more features and is a direct competitor with Garmin. Tom Tom is currently taking market share from Garmin by offering more features at a smaller price. Tom Tom is no slouch as a company, either. They totally dominate the European market!

Whether you want to spend a lot or a little, comparing car GPS units can be tricky. Continue checking out informative websites so you can find the system that’s right for you and won’t break your budget.

Netbooks Versus Laptops What You Need to Know Before You Buy Pros and Cons

Netbooks – What you need to know before you buy Comparing laptops and notebooks, pros and cons

Are the days of the Laptop numbered?

As the world becomes a smaller place, the Internet grows ever larger and more resourceful. Today, we cannot survive without the Internet at our disposal for a very long time. Hence, vast arrays of handheld solutions which promise Internet access are available. While all of them have their uses, Internet on handheld devices is hardly as rich and resourceful as that on a full-fledged PC. Mobile browsers come with limited support, especially for features like embedded video and animation, thus leaving your web experience half-baked. In today’s age of extensive mobility, even the much vaulted laptop looks like a lumbering giant. The solution? Enter the Netbook world.

As of today, Netbooks are little more than ultraportable laptops. As the name suggests, it is best suited for surfing the net on the go along with other lightweight allied tasks. It is not fundamentally designed to be a multimedia center or an office workstation and most Netbooks reflect that.

Screen size for Netbooks is generally 8-9 inches. Screen resolution varies according to make and model and is available up to a respectable 1024×600. While the smaller form factor has definite portability advantages, the smaller keyboard and touchpad area can be a real pain for people with large hands. Connectivity in Netbooks is paramount and hence it generally comes with a whole array of USB connectors, an Ethernet connection and the latest available wireless technology. External display devices maybe supported through DVI/S-Video. Optical drives are optionally available.

Under the hood, the processor for Netbooks needs to be a frugal drinker of electricity. As of today, three different platforms are available. The reliable but ageing VIA C7D (HP 2133 miniNote), the popular Intel Atom processor, and the mixed-bag options offered by AMD (Sempron 2100+, Turion64 or the puny Geode LX800). Memory typically comes in the 512MB-2GB range. Storage may be in the form of a SSD (solid state drive) or a simple hard drive. While SSD’s are faster, compact and consume less power, they also add a lot to the price tag of Netbooks. As a compromise, some vendors ship their units with a limited capacity (2-4 GB) flash memory which usually contains the operating system, and a standard hard drive for storage.

In terms of software on your Netbook, you can go for Windows XP or Linux. Linux distributions like Ubuntu 8.10 are an excellent choice as they work very well out of the box. Windows Vista performance is generally poor as they require more power.

A checklist while getting Netbooks can be as follows:-

? Power efficiency- The Atom offers the best bet, but the 945 chipset it ships with is old. The newer US15 chipset is expected to be out soon. Keep a lookout
? Memory- 512MB maybe adequate but you are better off with 1GB+
? Video – Look out for the upcoming Ion(Atom+ GeForce 9400) platform for NVidia with HD Playback capabilities
? Hard Drive -SSD’s offer performance and efficiency at higher prices
? Price- can be bought within $500 in general

Most major brands like Dell, HP, Compaq and Acer have Netbooks in their lineup. The ASUS Eee Pc, the first one launched, is also a decent choice. What you have to decide is whether you actually need a Netbook. While it offers portability, a rich web experience and lightweight computing capabilities, it is not really a replacement for a laptop or a phone and in general have failed to find a market niche till date.

Know More Nikon Cameras

Copyright (c) 2009 Kentaro Konika The Nikon brand is famous across the world. Synonymous with quality and durability Nikon has carved out a large market for themselves, competing with the likes of Canon for the top-spot in the camera world. The Nikon company started out small but has grown into one of the most successful commercial camera manufacturers in the world. The company started from humble beginnings shortly after the end of World War II, launching the Nikon I in 1948. With this as their starting point Nikon continued to build on their success, quickly introducing a second camera to the market, the Nikon M, one year later in 1949. During the 1950s the brand continued to grow with the NP 1957 being released as a rival to beat the industry leading Leica 35mm from Germany. The Nikon camera quickly came to be thought of as one of the top choices amongst camera technology at the time. Since these early years Nikon has grown into a powerhouse of the camera world. Numerous technological improvements have kept Nikon cameras at the top end of the camera market. The launch of the Nikon F SLR in 1959 was a landmark in the company’s history setting an industry standard for SLR design. As a result it quickly became the tool of choice for a variety of professional photographers, taking precedence over the German Leica cameras that reigned before it. By 1980 Nikon had proven themselves to be one of the best but continued to make improvements including the release of the F3 which was designed especially for astronauts on NASA space missions to use. The design was robust and easily usable by astronauts whilst they wore their restrictive space suits. It also functioned in zero gravity environments and was resistant to solar rays which posed a problem to camera technology in space previously. As a result of the success of this camera Nikon continued to design more cameras for NASA. The success of Nikon up to this time is evident, but it has continued through the 1990s to the present day. During the ’90s Nikon produced more top quality SLRs that served to retain Nikon’s place at the top of commercial camera equipment standings. In 1992 Nikon released the NIKONOS RS, the world’s first autofocus SLR camera usable under water. This was a big step for underwater camera use, enabling photos to be taken more easily than ever in sub-aqua conditions. Nikon went on to team up with Fuji Films producing the E2 and E2S digital still cameras in 1995. In 1997 Nikon then introduced their first digital camera called the CoolPix 100. As of then Nikon has kept itself at the top of the digital camera world with a constant stream of new releases improving digital camera technology year on year. The CoolPix S50C and P4 are both excellent compacts, particularly the P4 which is a high quality 8MP product with a large view-screen on the back. The S50C is a 7.2 MP camera boasting a huge 3 inch view-screen making taking great photos easier than ever.

Kentaro Konika This is an absolute complete information site of Nikon cameras. No matter you are professional or just a beginner who just started to learn about the Nikon cameras all information available in the website is good to read.
