A variety of softsynths and drum programs will do what you want. Most of what you want will be computer based though. I’d say drumkit from hell superior for straight drum sounds, but you’ll need a host program like cubase, sonar, protools, etc…that will support vst plugins with a midi sequencer. Keep in mind that your actual phrasing will have a big impact too. Get creative with your odd times and polyrhythms.

in that price range you can just about go with any setup you like. and there are a few to choose from. one would be to use samples and trigger them in from a software sampler. like impulse (found in ableton). you can even use the built in kits within ableton and get very good results. now it depends how you want to trigger them in. you can go with a drumkat if you want to play with sticks or something like a korg control if you want to use your fingers. this route is inexpensive and works great. if you want to buy a drum prosessor you can do that also. but you would have to buy the pads (drumkat would work here also) or buy the whole setup together if you like. there are a few electronic kits in your pricerange. if you went this route you could also trigger samples from a software sampler with the pads. this route is more expensive and takes up more room in a studio. depending on what kit you go with. or you can go with something like an akai 2500. this is a stand alone sampler. you would have to collect all samples to be played. this is also a good method but it all depends on you and your prefference. hope this helps.

Well you should have chosen the BA yourself instead of letting it go into the voting stage then.
No good complaining about it afterwards. The voters chose what they thought was the BA.
You should yourself, if there was no decent answer, have selected a NBA just before it went to a vote or deleted the question which your entitled to do!

If you turn off the auto cords they are so close, to being the same.
Now if you want something hard try the violin or a double reed instrument.
The piano(keyboard) is a little bit more difficult then your brass and single reed, If you want something more easier the go with the percussion’s or simple flutes (recorder, wooden or tin flutes)
